FOUNDER, GENERAL CONTRACTOR

Philip was born & raised in North London, England, where he started his own remodeling business before bringing his expertise to Minnesota. As many of the homes in London were built in the 1800's, Phil truly specializes in designing smart, creative solutions for old homes without compromising their charm and historicity. Phil met his wife, Julianne, in London where she was studying abroad. They were married in 2007 and continued to live in London for 9 years before moving their family back to Minneapolis in 2014, where he founded Wise Design shortly thereafter. They have 3 children and a German Shepherd dog named Bear.

SHOWROOM MANAGER, DESIGN CONSULTANT

Julianne shares Philip’s passion for transforming homes into beautiful and functional living spaces. She helps manage the showroom at Wise Design and assists with designing. Julianne graduated from St. Kate’s University in St. Paul and met Phil in London during a term abroad. They married and lived together in London for 9 years before moving back to Minneapolis and continuing to raise their 3 kids here. Apart from the business, Julianne enjoys music and theatre, yoga and traveling, but most of all loves spending time with her family.

ARCHITECT

Jason has over 15 years of Residential Design experience and holds a Master's in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology, in addition to a Bachelor's in Architecture from the U of M. Working, studying and traveling to destinations such New York, Paris, Chicago, and Oaxaca have all contributed to the inspiration for design he brings to his home and work in Minneapolis. Jason is an avid Viking's fan and loves to travel, where his passions for food, architecture and culture converge. He keeps his office and apartment filled with plants and books, and occasionally brings his beloved dog, Remy, to visit the showroom.

DESIGNER, KITCHEN & BATH SPECIALIST

Kim has been buying and renovating South Minneapolis homes for over a decade leading up to formally studying Kitchen & Bath Design and joining the Wise Design team. Prior to that, she taught Spanish at the university-level for 11 years and has lived abroad in 4 different countries from Latin America to Europe & the Middle East. As an artist, Kim dabbles in photography, furniture refinishing, painting, and ceramics, and stays busy with part-time property management, having fixed up and rented out 4 homes and a "Skoolie" over the years.

PROJECT MANAGER

Tim has been in the remodeling industry for nearly 20 years and possesses extensive knowledge of both interior and exterior remodeling. Tim enthusiastically manages our projects with a friendly, client-centered approach. His organizational and communication skills are the key to keeping our operations running smoothly and our clients informed of the daily updates during the construction process. Tim is a devoted husband and father of two. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing golf, and watching baseball.

LEAD CARPENTER, PROJECT MANAGER

Jhony is a skilled craftsman and has a passion for remodeling homes with over 20 years experience as a carpenter and framer. His cheerful attitude always wins over our clients, who love having him work on their projects. He is currently growing into a project management role with Wise Design, supervising construction and empowering the next generation of craftsmen to be as attentive to detail and proud of their work as he is. A fun fact about Jhony is that he owns a coffee farm and generously shares fresh coffee beans with the Wise Design family. Jhony has 3 daughters and is now a proud Grandpa as well.

CABINET SPECIALIST

Derrald has been in the cabinet industry for over 40 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the company. Over the years he has honed his cabinet making skills and partnered with many of the top designers in the Twin Cities, completing hundreds of kitchens and custom cabinetry projects. Derrald lives in Minneapolis, is happily married, and has 3 grown sons. He enjoys the outdoors, boating, and photography in his free time.

CARPENTER, APPRENTICE

Carson enjoys learning and improving his skills in all aspects of residential remodeling. He works hard to help keep our job sites clean and our projects organized. His colleagues and our clients always appreciate his friendly personality with a can-do attitude. Carson works closely in collaboration with our project managers on carpentry details and punch lists and has an ever-growing repertoire. He also enjoys camping, snowboarding and outdoor activities in his free time. His favorite band is Skeggs and has a cat named Mako.

BOOKKEEPER

Sheryll has been with Wise Design and Remodel since 2018. She spent most of her career in public service, first teaching high school French, then working at Hennepin County, and later the Minnesota Department of Human Services. After retiring in 2015, she went back to school to become a trained bookkeeper with a focus on the construction trades. While she loves working with numbers, her real passion is helping companies succeed by providing the necessary business intelligence gained from financial analysis. Some fun facts about Sheryll are that she’s an avid gardener, a grandma of 3 teen boys, and a world traveler.
